«Degrassi keeps getting better»

This season featured many entertaining storylines, and the movie was fantastic. Definately a worthwhile purchase.

«Degrassi is a soap opera, but better than the traditional kind.»

In my opinion, season 8 (the first semester of 2007-2008's school year) was underrated. If you didn't like the new freshman, you still had the junior class, the school bullies, Peter and Danny. But it's a relief Derek left the show. New twin rich kids (who we always see on other soaps), Declan and Fiona stir up quite the drama, while Dave tries to fit in and Jenna becomes the ultimate backstabber to her first friend. Season 9 was as good as I had anticipated, However, there was still a problem for me. Liberty and Kelly didn't return as regulars or even recurring roles! they were guest stars instead. I liked their plots as the college kis trying to find their way in life, and Spinner barely had a role also. My other prblem is that Manny and Emma were cast as regulars, but they both appeared in only one episode each (until the four part episode, The Rest of My Life: Degrassi Takes Manhattan). I would have liked to see more from each of them in the aactual episodes as well as the movie. Other than that, there were new problems addressed in this season that the series never covered before. Sexting, marriage, arranged marriages and moving around were all new problems that were addressed in this season. That is the rel reason that Degrassi is better than the other soap operas: it is more realistic.
